Hannafin company accountant, David Gregory, will be taking to the streets very soon, raising much-needed funds to support the fight against cancer, with proceeds going to the Georgina Unit at Russells Hall hospital, Dudley.

On October 3rd, he will be running the grueling 26 mile challenge of the 41st London Marathon, representing Unity Productions, who are an active charitable theatre group

When asked what the inspiration was for him to undertake such a test, he explained “The London Marathon has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember, and now, thanks to the charity place obtained by Unity Productions, my dream has been realised.  Unity doesn’t want to make anything out of this so all proceeds from my fundraising efforts will go directly to the ‘Leukaemia Unit Appeal Fund’, the charity that supports the Georgina Unit at Russell’s Hall hospital.”

“This is a charity very close to my heart. Both my wife and father received their cancer treatment at the unit and so I want to continue to give something back. They provide support to the staff, patients, and their families that the NHS can’t provide. Currently, they are providing an ‘at home’ chemotherapy service costing over £130,000 per year. Any amount you sponsor me for is therefore gratefully received.”

“I’ve been part of raising over £20,000 for the charity before in other events like the Birmingham Half Marathon, Edinburgh Marathon, Great North Run, and a ‘72 holes in one-day' golf challenge, but this is probably the hardest so far. I’m 3 years older than when I ran the Edinburgh marathon so I need as much encouragement as I can to keep training through the summer and on the day. My legs aren’t what they used to be!”
